What Is OutRun?

OutRun is an aftermarket autonomy platform from PTx Trimble. The kit fits to a compatible tractor you already own, so autonomy becomes an upgrade rather than a new machine purchase.

The kit is self-contained and moves — between tractors, and between jobs — as the season demands. One kit covers tillage and chaser bin work, with further tasks to come.

Autonomous work in the paddock

OutRun | Tillage

Tillage is where OutRun starts in Australia, and it is the work we have put the most time into in local conditions. Establish your boundaries and obstacles, calibrate the implement, and the tractor gets on with it.

  • Set boundaries and obstacles, calibrate the implement, then leave it to work
  • Build a tillage prescription with no-till zones, slow zones and no-go zones
  • Monitor and manage the job from the app, with a 360-degree live feed, images and alerts
  • Selectable path plans to make better use of fuel and time
  • Stop, start and redo sections of a job from the app
  • Adjust speed from the app to suit paddock conditions

OutRun | Grain Cart

The same kit handles chaser bin work at harvest. The cart can be staged at the paddock edge, summoned to the header to unload on the go, and sent back to the truck loading zone — without a second operator.

  • Autonomous operation from paddock edge to header and back
  • Controlled from an iPad by the header operator
  • Header guidance and steering are unchanged
  • Traffic patterns set from the header to the paddock edge help limit compaction
  • Works at up to 24 km/h and on inclines up to 15 degrees

Safety Comes First

Autonomy only earns its place if it is safe with nobody in the seat. OutRun runs to built-in safety protocols, virtual boundaries and on-screen alerts.

  • Sensors monitor the machine’s surroundings continuously
  • If an object is detected the system slows, then stops if the object does not clear
  • Alerts go to the iPad or phone when the operator needs to know
  • For moving obstacles, the system waits until the path is clear
  • The machine stays inside the boundaries set by the system manager
  • No-go zones can be set and changed as paddock conditions change

What OutRun Runs On

  • Tractors: John Deere 8R models from 2014 onwards, and the Fendt 900 series
  • Connectivity: Starlink, which deals with the patchy coverage most operations live with
  • Commercial model: a one-off hardware investment plus an annual service fee — no charges per hectare or per hour

Compatibility keeps expanding. Talk to us about what is in your shed before you plan around it — we will confirm what suits your fleet rather than guess at it.

Why Work With MCX Tech

We have field tested OutRun in both tillage and chaser bin operation before putting it in front of anyone. Tillage is the first application we are taking to market.

Autonomy is not a box you drop off. We assess the operation, design the system around it, install and commission it, and support it through the seasons that follow. We are brand-agnostic — if OutRun is not the right fit for your operation, we will tell you.

FAQs

A retrofit kit. It fits to a compatible tractor you already own, so you are upgrading the fleet rather than replacing it.

Yes. The kit is self-contained and moves between jobs, and between tractors, rather than being tied to one machine.

OutRun uses Starlink, so it does not depend on mobile coverage at the paddock.

Yes. We have field tested both tillage and chaser bin operation here before taking it to market.
